Preventative Care

Preventative care forms the backbone of the services we offer. Periodontic cleanings, exams and x-rays are the most important and cost-effective way to preserve your dental health. Preventing problems before they start continues to be a focus in our practice.

Fillings

Small to medium areas of decay can usually be treated with fillings. Depending on the nature of the problem, we can often treat areas with matching tooth colored fillings.

Life-Like Crowns and Bridges

Crowns (or caps) are used to restore teeth that have lost significant structure due to disease or fracture. We enjoy the challenge of making these restorations look as natural and life-like as possible.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal therapy suffers from a negative reputation, but modern materials and techniques have made virtually every treatment no more troublesome than a filling appointment. We take the comfort of our patients very seriously and take the time to ask how they are doing or take breaks during longer treatment visits.

Periodontal Therapy (Gum Treatment)

A house is only as good as its foundation, and your teeth are only as good as the gums and bone that support them. Preserving (or restoring) this foundation is a big part of what we do. Today, many periodontal conditions are treatable without surgical procedures, and we are excited to offer these advanced therapies.

Dental Implants

Dental implants have been a wonderful addition to the modern restorative practice. From single tooth replacement to multi-tooth bridges or even replacing all the teeth, implants give us options that just weren't available years ago. Even very cost-effective treatments such as providing solid attachment points for a complete denture can make all the difference in its comfort and fit.

Sedation

Dentistry has come a long way in the last few decades, so much so that most patients visit without a worry! Some of us are apprehensive about coming to get the care we need and that's ok. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is very effective at controlling anxiety and making the visit that much more pleasant. Today we also have the option of using a tiny pill to help relax or sedate particularly anxious adult patients.

We are proud to say that all of us here at Stevenson Dental are parents, and we know the special trust that is needed when it comes to those caring for your child.

For children, our emphasis on prevention is key. Everything we feel about prevention for adults is simply multiplied when it comes to the younger set. We feel that it is far better to prevent a problem than to have to treat one, but if treatment is needed we are always prepared. In the best case, we can form a foundation of positive visits and experiences early. In addition, we also offer the use of nitrous oxide gas (laughing gas). Nitrous oxide sedation has an unparalleled safety record and is wonderfully effective with most children.

Ideally, we like to see toddlers around two years of age for a "get acquainted" visit where no treatment is performed. At three, we like to start in with a cleaning and exam.

The best advice we can give to new parents is to brush their little ones's teeth as they can, and to never give a bottle at bedtime or naptime. Water only!

Every service we provide at Stevenson Dental has a cosmetic element to it. Of course we offer a full range of exclusively cosmetic services including teeth whitening, bonding and veneers, but we also strive to make even the more "mundane" services cosmetically presentable. Sometimes this amounts to a cleaning that really brightens a smile, but it also includes using tooth-colored fillings whenever we can, or choosing highly-esthetic crown materials and techniques. At times we are presented with a choice between a more esthetic or more durable solution, and in these instances we like to talk with our patients to help them make the most appropriate choice.

Teeth Whitening

Perhaps one of the most popular services we provide today is teeth whitening. It is one of the most cost-effective solutions that can often provide a dramatic impact.

Porcelain Veneers or Crowns

Porcelain veneers and crowns are highly esthetic restorative solutions for the most demanding applications. Ceramic materials can be made to mimic the varying color and translucency of natural teeth. The contour or position of each tooth in the smile can be subtly adjusted to create the ultimate esthetic result. In this example, porcelain crowns were combined with a "crown lengthening" procedure which results in a more even height of the gums.

Bonding

Bonding is one of the most conservative and immediate smile makeover options. Without removing tooth structure, natural-looking composite is bonded to the existing front teeth. While bonding is more conservative than porcelain veneers, they are generally not quite as durable.
